generations is to provide children with a quality education now.
Too many Ethiopian children don't go to school. An education is a luxury that is simply out of reach. The lack of a quality education creates an ongoing cycle of poverty. Please join us in helping to change the life of a deserving child whose greatest dream is just to go to school.
How is FOVC's HOPE (Helping Orphans Prosper through Education) Child Sponsorship Program different? We are attacking the problem of poverty on two fronts:
For $35 a month, you can provide quality education, food, shelter, medical care and clean clothes to change the life of an Ethiopian child. Your support will literally change the life of a vulnerable Ethiopian child.
As a sponsor, you will have the opportunity to communicate with your child at least three times per year. Want to visit your child? Join us on an upcoming Travel Team Trip! We have met these children, and we have seen first‐hand that it means the world to these kids to know somebody in the world loves them and believes in them, and is cheering them on as they strive to succeed in life.
FOVC currently has HOPE projects in the Wolaita village of Shanto, and the Sidama villages of Dale and Borecha. All together, we serve 118 orphaned children.

- Second, the children are being equipped with education, training and opportunities to build relationships with their HOPE sponsors and FOVC staff members.

Shanto
The HOPE children in Shanto receive an excellent education at FOVC's Kamfourd School, which is located in the FOVC compound in Shanto. The school's staff members are well‐educated and passionate about breaking the cycle of poverty in the children's lives. In addition to feeding the children's minds at school, FOVC has hired local widows to prepare a daily nutritious meal, as directed by our Medical Director, Dr. Jo Bruce, for the FOVC children in Shanto.

Dale
Our 26 HOPE children in the Sidama village of Dale (pronounced doll-uh) attend a local government school half of the day. They spend the remaining half day at our new enrichment and feeding center, where they receive a nutritious meal, tutoring and additional instruction in English, math, hygiene and more. An added "plus" to our work in Dale is that these kids' daily meals are prepared by local widows. These women are increasing their skill sets as they budget, plan and prepare large meals each day...and they are also able to provide for their own families with the wages their daily work provides. This new project launched in February, 2012!

Borecha
Our children in the Sidama village of Borecha attend a small private school there; they are also supported in their education, personal growth and nutrition by FOVC staff.

This little six year-old girl is so proud to have her picture taken. She is one of FOVC's "new kids" in Shanto and is waiting hopefully for her new HOPE sponsor!
Our newest Shanto HOPE children are in difficult situations and they need sponsors, too. Sponsorship brings incredible hope to the kids. Knowing someone in the world cares motivates the children greatly to work hard in school and in life. With the support of a sponsor behind them, these orphaned children have the chance to make a good life for themselves!
